Jim Short of Havertown
Executive Director of the Garrett Williamson Foundation
Short first became affiliated with the Foundation through his involvement as a 4-H program member and national 4-H award recipient. From 1989 to 1996 he worked for Penn State University's Cooperative Extension administering 4-H programs in low income areas working with at-risk youth in their communities and in their schools. This included directing an overnight camping program for Delaware County 4-H which provided camp scholarships for economically disadvantaged youth. While involved in 4-H, which is on-site at the Garrett-Williamson property, Mr. Short whose extensive background includes landscaping and property management, held a position as Assistant Supervisor of Grounds at Garrett-Williamson, which evolved into Supervisor of Grounds in 1999. In December of 2002 Board Chairman Frank C. Videon asked him to take the position of Acting Director of the Foundation. In July 2003 Mr. Short was offered the position of Executive Director.
